Frequently Asked Questions

Does MailMeInfo only work for mobile e-mail?

Absolutely not!  It works with ANY e-mail system, anywhere.  You can use it from your Windows-based e-mail program, web mail, etc.  Given the type of information the service provides, we feel that it has maximum usefulness when used from your Blackberry or other mobile e-mail application.  But you are free to use it from any e-mail program you choose.

Why use an e-mail based service; why not use my mobile device's web browser?

If you've tried to browse the web using your Blackberry or other mobile device, you've likely found it to be a frustrating experience, for two reasons: (1) the relatively low connection speed of a mobile device makes for very slow page loading and navigation on a mobile browser, and (2) most web pages were not designed for the small screen size of a mobile device; consequently, trying to view web pages on a mobile browser involves lots of scrolling and viewing only portions of pages at a time.

Using e-mail to deliver information to a mobile device solves both of these problems; thus we believe it is a much better delivery mechanism for this type of information.

Why use an e-mail based service; why not use my mobile device's text messaging capability?

While text messaging is useful for delivering short, personal communications, a text message is limited to 160 characters.  As a result, one can only communicate a very small amount of information in one text message.  It would require sending multiple -- in some cases, dozens -- of text messages in order to provide the level of information that MailMeInfo gives you.

Is there a cost to use this service?

MailMeInfo is currently in an open beta stage.  Once the service moves out of beta testing, we anticipate there will likely be both a basic free service, and a paid premium service with a nominal monthly or annual fee.  As we move forward, we will be updating the web site with more information about these plans.

Can I add MailMeInfo's e-mail addresses to my address book, so it's easier to send e-mails to the services?

Absolutely -- in fact, we recommend it!  You can easily add each of the MailMeInfo services as a contact record within your e-mail program (such as Microsoft Outlook, or any program that understands the VCF business-card file format), so the services appear in your address book.  To do this, simply click on each of the links below.  As each contact item opens, save it to your mail program.
